One person is in police custody following a car chase that started in Irondequoit and ended in Webster.

The chase began around 9:30 this morning after an on duty Irondequoit officer observed a vehicle reported stolen out of Rochester, that had potentially been involved in a burglary.

Irondequoit Police Chief Alan Laird says officers also learned that the driver of the vehicle was wanted by the department for numerous other charges over the last few days.

Police say the suspect then ditched the car in the 900 block of Bay Road, then ran away, setting off an extensive manhunt.

The man was taken into custody about an hour later. He was taken to the hospital for minor injuries.
