Pawnshop Owner Pleads Guilty in Million-Dollar Scam

A Dewey Avenue pawnshop owner has pleaded guilty to a federal charge he bought more than a million dollars in new merchandise from shoplifters -- many of them drug addicts -- then sold the goods online at below-market prices.

Thomas Nary pleaded guilty to transportation of stolen goods in interstate commerce.

Authorities say the scam lasted nearly five years. The stolen goods were taken from Lowes, Home Depot, Target, Walmart and Wegmans.

Two co-defendants have already been convicted.
