UPDATE: Authorities Identify Woman Suspected of Stealing an Ambulance

UPDATE: State police have released the name of the woman accused of stealing an ambulance in Utica, driving it to Rochester and crashing it in Irondequoit Bay.

Thirty-two-year-old Vanessa Armstead is charged with possession of stolen property, trespassing and criminal mischief.

She is accused of stealing an ambulance in Utica, driving it to Rochester, then crashing it into Irondequoit Bay.

It was reported stolen yesterday morning from the Kunkel ambulance service in Utica.

State troopers spotted it on the Thruway, but the driver refused to stop.

They saw it again getting off 490 at Culver Road. The driver eventually drove into the bay off Seneca Road, near Sea Breeze.

She swam to a boat, then was arrested.

A dive team helped pull the ambulance out of the water.
