Police Investigating Deadly House Fire on Hague Street

There is no word yet on the cause of a deadly fire on Hague Street, on Rochester's west side.

City police officers were across the street on an unrelated call when the fire broke out yesterday morning. Two of them ran into the house to rescue people inside, a third officer used a ladder to reach people on the upper floor.

A 12-year-old boy was killed. Two adults and six other children survived.

Two officers had minor injuries.

The house was heavily damaged, and the fire appears to have started on the first floor.
