1st African-American RPD Officer Passes Away

Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren is announcing that the City’s first African American police officer has passed away.

Mayor Warren says she is filled with great sadness to learn of the passing of retired Police Captain Charlie Price.

Captain Price joined the RPD in 1947, rising through the ranks until he retired in 1985 as a captain.

Warren says Price was presented with a ceremonial Rochester Police Department Sword in honor of the Department’s 200th Anniversary in December 2019.
