Tim Curtin Resigning as City Corporation Counsel

The City of Rochester's top attorney says he's quitting, and going back into private law practice. City Corporation Counsel Tim Curtin says he's leaving as of June 30th. It was just over a week ago that City Council approved a resolution calling on Curtin to be fired.

Tim Curtin has been corporation counsel since January of 2018. He became controversial after the Celli Report commissioned by City Council into the Daniel Prude case found that Curtin had consistently obstructed the Prude family and the Rochester community from learning what happened to Prude during his encounter with Rochester police. That's according to Council Vice-President Willie Lightfoot, who said Curtin knowingly gave false information to oprevent the public from learning details of what led up to Daniel Prude's death.

Mayor Lovely Warren said Curtin's leadership helped restore the city's bond rating after the school district's financial crisis last year. She says she thanks him for his service.
