Vote to Legalize Recreational Marijuana in New York Could Come Later Today

The state Senate and Assembly could vote later today to legalize recreational marijuana in New York.

Under the agreement reached by the Legislature and Governor Cuomo's office, people over the age of 21 would be allowed to possess a small amount of the drug and have up to five pounds of it at home.

Retail sales of marijuana would become legal, but likely won't start for up to two years.

Governor Cuomo is expected to sign the bill soon after its passed, making New York the 15th state to legalize marijuana.
