The state Senate has advanced a bill that would give municipalities a bigger incentive to get electric vehicles.
The bill would double the minimum rebate for municipalities buying electric vehicles.
It would increase it from $750 to $1,500.
The bill's sponsor says the municipal rebates will move New York toward a transition to pollution-free vehicles.
