NYS Allowing Some Fans at Sporting Events Starting April 1

Professional sports teams in New York State like the Mets and Yankees, will be able to play their home games in front of crowds this year.

The Governor announced today that professional sports in large outdoor stadiums can reopen at 20 percent capacity beginning April first.

Attendees will have to have proof of a negative coronavirus test, or that they got the vaccine.

Regional sports venues that hold more than 1,500 people indoors or more than 2,500 people outdoors can also reopen April first.

Indoor capacity is limited to 10 percent and outdoor capacity limited to 20 percent.

This also applies to other stadium-size events like outdoor concerts.
