Monroe County Executive Adam Bello is pushing to rename part of Highland Park after Congressional Medal of Honor winner Gary Beikirch.
The proposal would rename the area around South and Highland Avenues after Beikirch.
Beikirch won the Congressional Medal of Honor in 1973 for his service during the Vietnam War.
He had a long career as a middle school guidance counselor in the Greece Central School District.
The renaming proposal requires the approval of the county legislature.
