UPDATE: Charges Confirmed in Wayne Central Middle School Lockdown

UPDATE: Charging documents have confirmed what WHAM1180 was the first to tell you Monday -- the school resource officer who was injured during a scuffle at Wayne Central Middle School had been shot in the foot.

Deputy Robert Mansell had responded to a report of a school employee armed with a knife. In the scuffle, a source told us the employee grabbed the gun and fired.

Both Mansell and the employee -- 19-year-old Thomas Franco -- were sent to the hospital.

Thomas Franco was charged with two counts of assault and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon.

A 19-year-old from Walworth has been charged in the scuffle that led to a lockdown at Wayne Central Middle School.

The sheriff's office says Franco brandished a weapon at school officials during the altercation. A deputy who serves as a school resource officer was injured arresting Franco.

Franco and the deputy were taken to the hospital.

The scuffle reportedly happened in a loading dock area, away from students and teachers
