Amanda Gorman To Recite Original Poem During Super Bowl LV

Amanda Gorman, the national youth poet laureate who gained national attention during her appearance at President Joe Biden's inauguration next week, will once again recite an original poem on a major national stage.

Gorman, 22, will recite a poem honoring three individuals who will be serve as honorary Super Bowl captains -- Tampa nurse manager Suzie Dorner, Los Angeles teacher Trimaine Davis and Pittsburgh veteran James Martin -- for their efforts in their local communities during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic during Super Bowl LV, the NFL announced in a press release shared on its communications website Wednesday (January 27.)

Gorman became the youngest known poet to speak at a presidential inauguration with her recital of her poem, 'The Hill We Climb,' last Wednesday (January 20.) The 22-year-old graduated from Harvard in 2020 and performed an Independence Day poem with the Boston Pops during a Fourth of July ceremony on the Esplande in 2019, CBS Boston reports.

The Los Angeles native also recently signed to IMG Models, one of the biggest modeling agencies in the world, following her inauguration appearance, CNN reports.

Gorman's poem honoring the three honorary Super Bowl captains will air live on CBS during Super Bowl LV at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida on Sunday, February 7.
