A judge has ordered Rochester General Hospital to treat a very ill COVID-19 patient with a drug that hasn't been approved by the Food and Drug Administration.
The Albion woman went on a ventilator on January 17th. When her oxygen levels continued to fall, the family asked she be treated with Ivermectin.
The family doctor supported using the drug, but the hospital refused.
The family got the court order for the treatment Thursday, and the family lawyer says the woman's condition has improved.
A decision on whether the treatment will continue could come at a court hearing tomorrow.
