Phelps Man Pleads Guilty to Drug Trafficking

A 29-year-old Phelps man has admitted leading a drug trafficking ring that sold cocaine, heroin, and fentanyl throughout Western New York.

Andres Escalera pleaded guilty to attempted possession with intent to distribute cocaine.

He was arrested in June on charges he tried to buy 13 pounds of cocaine and was carrying more than $200,000 in cash.

A search of his home turned up more drugs and cash. The government seized more than a half-million dollars and his Mercedes.

He will be sentenced to no less than ten years in prison.
