The Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine Starting to be Administered in Rochester

The COVID-19 Pfizer vaccine is making its arrival in Rochester today.

University of Rochester Medical Center Chief Medical Officer Dr. Michael Apostolakos says the first doses of the vaccine will go to employees who have the highest risk of exposure to the virus including those who work in the emergency departments, the intensive care units and operating rooms.

Apostolokis says he is hopeful the first round of doses will be administered to the highest risk employees by the end of January. Doses have already started to be administered.

The Finger Lakes Region is expected to get over 11,000 doses of the vaccine.
