Republican Board of Elections Commissioner Tests Positive for COVID-19

The Republican commissioner at the Monroe County Board of Elections has told workers there she tested positive for COVID-19.

Media organizations have obtained an email to employees from Commissioner Lisa Nicolay.

She stated she tested positive and that the county recommended that everyone in the department work from home through the holiday.

Nicolay was present last week when workers were counting absentee ballots. Candidates, lawyers and reporters were present, too.

It's not clear how many may have been exposed.
