Penfield Man Pleads Not Guilty to Hit and Run Manslaughter Charges

A Penfield man has pleaded not guilty to charges he struck and killed a woman walking along Empire Boulevard, then left the scene.

Twenty-seven-year-old Maxwell Ward was arrested in July and was indicted earlier this month.

The June 20 hit-and-run killed Oksana Zakharchyshyn as she walked with her daughters and grandson.

The grand jury charged Ward with second-degree manslaughter. He's also charged with criminally negligent homicide, leaving the scene of a fatal accident, and leaving the scene of an accident causing injury.

His next court date is December 8.
