Monroe Co. Board of Elections to Begin Counting Absentee Ballots Today

The Monroe County Board of Elections will begin counting more than 100,000 absentee ballots today.

Those ballots could settle several contests that were too close to call on election night.

In the 135th State Assembly District, incumbent Republican Mark Johns is ahead of Democrat Jen Lunsford.

Statewide, absentee ballots will decide close state Senate races that will determine whether Democrats will have a supermajority in Albany next year.

More than a quarter of the ballots cast in the county were by absentee.
