NY27: Jacobs Declares Victory McMurray Will Not Concede

Nate McMurray (D) & Chris Jacobs (R)

The republican in the 27th Congressional District, Chris Jacobs, is declaring victory.

Jacobs has a 64 to 30 percent lead over Democrat Nate McMurray.

But remembering how last summer's special election ended with absentee ballots nearly overturning a Jacobs win, Democrat Nate McMurray refused to concede. McMurray says a lot of votes have been counted but many more need to be counted.

Incumbent Chris Jacobs (R) is seeking a full term after winning a special election earlier this year. He's challenged by Nate McMurray (D) who narrowly lost to Jacobs in the special election, and narrowly lost to Jacobs' predecessor Chris Collins in 2018.

27th Congressional District - The district includes all of Orleans, Genesee, Wyoming, and Livingston counties and parts of Erie, Monroe, Niagara, and Ontario counties.

Jacobs won the special election for the 27th Congressional District back in June and went to Washington to finish the unexpired term of former Republican Congressman Chris Collins. Collins resigned the seat last fall and pleaded guilty to federal insider trading charges.

Jacobs also won the three-way Republican primary for a full term in this election.
