Gates Chili School Bus Driver Accused of Driving Drunk

A Gates Chili school bus driver has been arrested after allegedly driving drunk with students on board.

The Gates Chili School District says they contacted Gates Police this morning after they got reports of unusual activity involving the bus driver, and an unauthorized stop.

Police investigated and found the driver had been operating the bus with a blood alcohol content higher than the legal limit. Six students were on the bus at the time.

The district says Police informed them the driver will be charged with five counts of Leandra’s Law violations for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol with a person under the age of 16 in the vehicle, in addition to other charges.

The district says it can't comment directly on personnel matters, but called it an egregious violation of policies and practices and will never be tolerated.
