More Tension Between Protesters and Police Following Arrest of Activist

There is more tension between protesters and police following arrest of an activist in Webster.

Nicholas Wilt is the husband of a Brighton Town Board member and had been arrested during a protest in Rochester last month.

He was arrested again yesterday for allegedly tearing down a police barricade during a protest at Webster Police Headquarters. That's when police learned he was wanted on a warrant for missing a court date on the first charge. After he was turned over to Rochester police, another protester allegedly entered the Public Safety Building and assaulted two city cops.

Jordan Hughes is charged with two counts of assault.

And Rochester police say the warrant for Wilt was issued in error, following confusion over his court date.
