Nobel Prize Co-Recipient is a University of Rochester Alum

One of the three co-recipients of the Nobel Prize for Medicine is a University of Rochester alum.

Dr. Harvey Alter graduated in 1956 and got his medical degree in 1960.

He and the other men discovered the hepatitis C virus. The Nobel committee says their breakthrough “made possible blood tests and new medicines that have saved millions of lives.”
