NYS Coronavirus Infection Rate Rises Above One Percent

Governor Cuomo is expressing concern about the uptick in coronavirus cases in Brooklyn and in Orange and Rockland counties. He says those areas have helped bring the statewide infection rate up to one-point-five percent, the highest it's been in a while.

The governor says state officials will be talking with local communities seeing the spike and hospitals to do additional testing and compliance measures.

Cuomo is urging local governments to enforce coronavirus related protocols like mask wearing and limiting gatherings.

The infection rate in Brooklyn is at two-point-six percent and in the Mid-Hudson, it is at three percent.
