Rochester City Council Names New Member for Vacant at Large Seat

The Rochester City Council seat left vacant by former Councilmember Jacklyn Ortiz, is being filled.

Ortiz resigned her Council Seat last month after she was appointed Democratic Commissioner of the Monroe County Board of Elections.

Miguel Meléndez, Jr. has been selected to fill the seat and serve the remainder of Ortiz's term, which expires at the end of next year.

The City Council will hold a Special Meeting on Thursday to make the appointment official.
