Rochester City Council Votes to Allow Subpoenas in Prude Investigation

The Rochester City Council has voted to issue subpoenas to City Departments, and others, for information about the city's handling of the Daniel Prude case.

The vote this morning was 8-0.

Council President Loretta Scott says the subpoenas were requested by the independent investigator that was hired by the city this week to look into Prude's death and the aftermath.

The council this week approved the hiring of a New York City law firm to conduct the investigation.

Andrew Celli Jr. says his team will get to work right away, and could issue subpoenas in the case as early as Monday. He says that the investigation could take about three months.
