Daniel Prude's Estate Files Lawsuit Against the City of Rochester

The estate of Daniel Prude has filed a civil rights lawsuit against the City of Rochester, Police Chief La’Ron Singletary, and several suspended officers.

Prude's family is suing for compensatory and punitive damages. They claim the actions of responding officers on March 23rd led to Prude's death a week later.

The 82 page lawsuit alleges a pattern of excessive force in the department, and it mentions the arrest of Christopher Pate in 2018 and two arrests since Prude died.

Prude family lawyer Elliot Shields says the department needs to be reformed and defunded.
