New York State Police say two children, a nine-year-old and an 11-year-old, have been killed in a crash on the Thruway in Seneca County.
State Police say the four vehicle crash happened in the westbound lanes at the Junius Ponds Rest Area, around 10:30 a.m.
Investigators believe traffic was slowing down for a lane closure, when a pickup truck slammed into a minivan.
The van then crashed into another vehicle, which struck a tractor-trailer.
The children were the rear passengers in the minivan. State Police say they were wearing seat belts. The driver and front seat passenger of that minivan were airlifted to Strong Hospital with serious injuries.
