AG James Says City Can Run its Own Daniel Prude Investigation

New York Attorney General Letitia James says the City of Rochester's hands are not tied if it wants to run its own investigation of the Daniel Prude death.

In a statement this afternoon, James said she in fact encourages both the City of Rochester and the Rochester Police Department to proceed with their internal investigations at the same time her office is doing its independent investigation. James says the Prude family and the Greater Rochester Community deserve answers, and her staff will work around the clock to provide them.

Mayor Warren had indicated yesterday that Rochester's investigation could not move forward until the state's investigation was closed.
