Rochester City Council to Begin Filling Vacancy

A search will be starting soon to fill an expected vacancy on the Rochester City Council.

At-Large councilmember Jacklyn Ortiz is about to become the Democratic Commissioner of the Monroe County Board of Elections and will have to resign her council seat.

The remaining councilmembers will have 30 days to elect a replacement, or else the council president will appoint one.

Candidates must be current city residents and must have lived in the city for at least two continuous years.

Ortiz's term expires at the end of next year.
