Phase Three Study of Potential COVID-19 Vaccine Under Way in Rochester

A phase three study of a potential COVID-19 vaccine is under way at UR Medicine and Rochester Regional Health.

The vaccine is being developed by Pfizer and BioNTech and the first of 200 volunteers in Rochester received the vaccine this week.

Rochester is one of several locations in the country taking part in the study, and researchers are looking for volunteers from the city's Black and Latino communities among others.

URMC also plans soon to begin a phase three study of another potential vaccine.
