The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says a jail deputy and an inmate have tested positive for COVID-19.
The sheriff’s office saying they learned the deputy had tested positive on Wednesday. The deputy is home and will be quarantined for 14 days. Officials say the deputy was masked and practiced social distancing, when able, while at work.
Ten other deputies are being tested and told to stay home for two weeks.
Additionally, authorities were notified early this morning that an inmate had tested positive. That inmate and all others in that unit are being tested and quarantined.
Both the deputy and the inmate were asymptomatic.
