Cuomo Says Alcohol Only With Food at New York Bars and Restaurants

Governor Andrew Cuomo has laid new requirements on bars and restaurants across New York: they may only serve alcohol to people who are also ordering food.

Cuomo says too many people are mingling at bars while ordering drinks in defiance of social distancing rules. So while the coronavirus pandemic lasts, the governor is ordering that alcohol may only be ordered with food.

All bar service must be only for patrons seated at the bar, and who are six feet apart or separated by plastic barriers. Walk-up bar service is forbidden.
