Off Duty RPD Lieutenant Killed in Bicycle Crash in Ontario Co.

Authorities say an off duty Rochester Police Lieutenant was killed last night in Canandaigua after he was hit by a vehicle while he was out riding his bike. The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office says 44-year-old Aaron Colletti and a teenager were riding their bikes shortly after eight o’clock last night on Woolhouse Road, when a truck came up from behind and hit Colletti.

Authorities say Colletti died of his injuries at the scene. The teen was knocked off his bicycle, but was not seriously hurt. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

According to the Rochester Police Department, Colletti was a 21 year veteran of the department. He leaves behind a wife and four kids.
