State Legislature to Discuss Criminal Justice Reform

Members of the state Legislature are expected to convene next week to discuss criminal justice reform.

One statute they'll be taking a close look at is a provision in the state Civil Rights Law.

It's known as "50-a" and has been used by police departments to keep the public from having access to the disciplinary records of officers.

Lawmakers are also planning to discuss several other proposals including the creation of a special prosecutor's office to help with investigating cases where police are accused of killing unarmed people.
