Gov. Cuomo Addresses Protests, Phase Two of Re-Opening, COVID-19 Numbers

Governor Cuomo says summer camps will be allowed to open on June 29th as parts of the state enter into "Phase Two" of re-opening.

Cuomo adds that New York City remains on target for "Phase One" this coming Monday, despite the civil unrest and looting that's followed the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis. Today, Western New York entered "Phase Two", and tomorrow the Capital Region does the same.

Governor Cuomo says while the looting and civil unrest represents a new crisis, the COVID-19 numbers are very positive in terms of new hospitalizations and the daily death toll.

Governor Cuomo says while he continues to support peaceful protest, he's completely disappointed and outraged by widespread looting. The governor adds that he supports reform and legislation aimed at police misconduct, especially following the death of George Floyd while in the custody of Minneapolis police.

Cuomo maintains that the unrest following Floyd's death has been largely split into two groups, with peaceful and meaningful protest during the day, and violence with looting at night.
