Gates police have arrested three suspects for a break in at the Speedway Gas Station on Elmgrove Road last week. They're also being charged with similar burglaries at gas stations in Irondequoit, Brighton and Rochester over the last two weeks.
Gates Police Chief Jim VanBrederode says Eric Smith, Kristina Marble and Billy Brown are all charged with burglary, criminal mischief and Grand Larceny. Brown was held in jail as he was on parole, while the other two were released on appearance tickets.
VanBrederode says Brown had been released from jail two months ago on orders of the governor's office in order to reduce jail populations to stop the spread of COVID-19. Police say Brown and his crew began stealing shortly after his release.
