Rochester Man Charged With Fraud, Identity Theft

Federal prosecutors say a 29-year-old Rochester man has been charged with financial institution fraud and identity theft, for stealing a Rochester-area victim's retirement funds.

They say Isaiah Lopez fraudulently got control of the victim's bank account that contained retirement funds. Posing as the victim, he got a replacement bank card and PIN number, then withdrew nearly $190,000 from the victim's account late last year and early this year.

Lopez was in federal court today and was detained. He was caught through an investigation by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, Irondequoit Police and New York State Police.
