National Governors Association Urging Congress to Send Cash to States

The top Republican and the top Democrat in the National Governors Association are urging Congress to send cash to the state governments in the next relief bill.

NGA Chair Larry Hogan, of Maryland, and Vice Chair Andrew Cuomo, say urgent state fiscal relief must be a top priority for Congress.

The economic slowdown means a big drop in tax revenue for the states.

The governors are asking Congress for $500 billion to cover the budget shortfalls, and additional funds to cover pandemic response efforts.
