COVID-19 Related Pediatric Inflammatory Syndrome On The Rise

Governor Cuomo says the state has at least 93 children with a new pediatric inflammatory syndrome likely linked to COVID-19.

Cuomo says as many as five children in New York state have died from the condition.

Symptoms include persistent fever, abdominal symptoms, rash, and rapid heart beats that can land young patients in the ICU.

Pediatricians say the illness is an over-active immune response that develops several weeks after exposure to the virus.

Doctors are keeping a close watch -- especially with decisions on the horizon about summer camp and a possible return to school.
