Cuomo says Coronavirus in Children Now Top Priority

Governor Andrew Cuomo says New York's top COVID-19 priority is now the mysterious illness affecting more than 70 children statewide who tested positive for COVID antibodies.

The children and infants show symptoms similar to Kawasaki Disease, an inflammation of the blood vessels which can damage the heart. Cuomo says none of the children showed the typical respiratory symptoms of COVID-19.

The State Health Department is studying these cases, and is working with the federal Centers for Disease Control. Genome and RNA studies are also being done on the children.

Meanwhile, Governor Cuomo says the number of new coronavirus cases has now dropped to 572, the lowest since they started holding daily briefings. But the number of deaths at 226 remains in the 200s where it has been all month.
