Hurlbut Care Community Cites HIPAA For Employee's Right To Privacy

The president of Hurlbut Care Communities, Robert Hurlbut, says the federal HIPAA ("hippa") guarantees the privacy of his nursing home employees, and the employees can't be forced to take a coronavirus test or share the results of those tests.

Hurlbut is responding to the demand by state Assemblywoman Marjorie Byrnes for universal testing of the staff at Hurlbut's Avon Nursing Facility -- where are least three residents reportedly died from COVID-19.

Hurlbut says his company is offering tests to employees that show symptoms, and those who request them.
