Dozens of Detainees Held In Batavia Tested Positive For Coronavirus

Dozens of detainees being held at the immigration detention center in Batavia have tested positive for the coronavirus.

A report in the The Batavian says 45 detainees tested positive though a source said only three showed symptoms.

The source said only two staff members tested positive.

All 45 were living in the same pod. It's suspected the virus was brought to the pod by new arrivals from New York City or the state prison system.

The detention center currently has more than 300 detainees -- about half of its capacity.
