Inmate at Monroe Co. Jail Tests Positive for Coronavirus

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says an inmate at the jail has tested positive for COVID-19.

The Sheriff’s Office says the inmate was housed in the jail’s reception area was screened yesterday and was found to have a fever. The person was then tested and the test came back positive last night.

Authorities say the inmate had been in close contact with a COVID-19 patient prior to his arrest, which he had not disclosed when he was booked at the jail.

The screening was part of the new coronavirus procedures that were recently put in place at the jail.
