County Choses Convention Center as Possible Field Hospital Site

Foodlink has been running its emergency meal operations out of the Floreano Riverside Convention Center in Rochester since the Coronavirus crisis began...but now, it's moving out to make way for a possible coronavirus field hospital.

Monroe County Executive Adam Bello says 250-to-800 COVID-19 patients would be housed in the convention center if the regional hospital systems get overloaded. But he said we're a long way from there yet...and WON'T get there if we keep up social distancing.

Bello says the county is announcing this now because it takes two or three weeks to set up a field hospital, and they might have no more notice than that. But he said so far, local hospitals are coping with the patient load from the pandemic.
