State Budget Includes Billions For Unemployment And Mandated Sick Leave

State Assemblyman Harry Bronson says the new state budget includes $43 billion for state unemployment insurance benefits...and he says people struggling with the system because of the coronavirus downturn should keep trying to apply.

Bronson says the Department of Labor is adding new staff to try and get out from under the surge in applications.

Bronson says the budget also mandates employers provide 40-to-56 days of sick leave to employees...depending on the size of the business. Whether the leave is paid or unpaid also depends on the size of the business.
