Gov. Cuomo: Number of COVID-19 Deaths in NYS Surpasses 5,400

Governor Andrew Cuomo says while ICU admissions and intubations are going down, New York saw the largest single day increase in deaths. Another 731 people passed away from COVID-19, bringing the total to 5,489.

In addition, Cuomo says projections show cases of coronavirus in New York are reaching a plateau.

He adds, while the curve is starting to flatten, it still depends on what New Yorkers do in helping to stop the spread.

The governor has stressed daily the importance of social distancing.
