Governor Cuomo says the number of coronavirus cases continue on an upward trajectory, with nearly 84,000 known cases statewide, and over 1,900 deaths attributed to the disease.
The governor says the rate of hospitalizations and ICU visits also continue to rise, but at fluctuating rates, with some experts predicting a surge in patients at the end of April.
Efforts aimed at boosting the state's hospital capacity continue, including the construction of emergency field hospitals, mostly in the New York City area.
The bulk of the state's cases are in New York City, with 47,000 confirmed cases.
Cuomo says 75,000 to 110,000 hospital beds may be needed during the peak, which could come in the next few weeks.
