Rochester City School District Budget Revealed

Rochester School Superintendent Terry Dade is proposing a budget for the next school year that eliminates 236 positions, including 192 teaching jobs.

Dade notes the district added staff over the past six years while enrollment fell by more than 3,000 students.

The district is still facing a $61 million shortfall, and it's not clear if the state will honor the district's request for $35 million in additional aid.

Dade's budget also cuts $7 million from special education.

The school board will begin online meetings on the budget on Tuesday. A vote is expected in May.
