New Yorkers Can Sign Up For Health Insurance Now

New York and eight other states are reopening the health care marketplace to give residents another opportunity to sign up for health insurance this year as the coronavirus pandemic rages.

Those states have more flexibility to create a special enrollment period because they run their own exchanges.

Under general Affordable Care Act rules, consumers who buy their own insurance must purchase a policy during the open enrollment period in the fall.
