State Supreme Court Throws Out Kappell Lawsuit

A State Supreme Court justice has thrown out the lawsuits brought by fired TV meteorologist Jeremy Kappell against Channel 10 and Mayor Lovely Warren.

Kappell claimed he jumbled his words when he spoke a racial slur on the air last year.

Justice William Taylor ruled that, regardless of how it happened, Kappell's utterance was detrimental to the TV station and his contract allowed him to be fired.

And Taylor ruled a statement by Warren suggesting he should be fired was a statement of opinion that is allowed the law.
